Just had to share :)

Scrapping with my girls!

Ok so todays 2ps challenge is to talk about scrapping with others.

What is your most fave part about scrapping with a group of others?

My most favorite part is just making a night of it, ordering takeout, chatting, gossiping, and just being Sarah with my girlies! Melissa and Melanie and I try to get together every month or two at least and scrapbook. It's hard to coordinate schedules sometimes so when we can come together we make the most of it! I love having them over!

What is your least fave part?

Dealing with kids unfortunately. I rarely have a solid block of uninterrupted scrap time. I also rarely get much done with others around. Don't get me wrong I LOVE scrapping with my girls but I find I get much more accomplished and I'm more motivated and inspired when I'm alone. I guess I just have a hard time scrapping and talking at the same time :)

Ok on another note... 21 days till SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE LIVE TOUR!
24 days until GREY'S ANATOMY SEASON PREMIERE!
WOO-HOO!

My Process

Today's challenge at 2ps is to write about my scrapping process...

It depends on my mood but I usually scrap in two ways. If I have a particular style or theme or layout in my head then I go with that and find pictures to match the idea in my head. I do this especially when I'm in a funk or I see a layout I want to scraplift.

When I'm inspired I actually go to my pictures first and then I start looking for the right layout or color scheme. Searching through my papers until I find something that feels right.

Once I've done that I experiment with photo placement.
Once I have that figured out I don't stick my photo down I just keep a mental note.
Then if I'm going to do any painting or inking I do it now.
I build layers with patterned paper and then put my photos down once I have a solid foundation.

Then I build around it creating my title and journaling and searching for the right accents to embellish with.

This is pretty much it and it usually takes me start to finish about 2 hours if I have the time without interruptions or the right inspiration and motivation. Otherwise it can take me 2-3 days to finish the layout. I'm usually working on several layouts at a time though.

So that's my process :)

Challenge # 2

Q:~ Tell us what books you read as a child. Which ones were your favorites? Do you like to read as an adult? If so, what?

A:~ As a child I loved fairy tales and fables. I think my most favorite is Little Red Riding Hood, something to be said for the red hair (;

My most favorite childhood book though is Charlotte's Web.
I still love to read but unfortunately I don't get to read books as much anymore... mostly magazines and short reads these days (:

My favorite books though are anything by Nicholas Sparks- that man can WRITE! I highly recommend him to any romance novel lover. He is totally ROMANTIC not like a cheap chick porn novel. He writes about REAL love and many of his stories are based on actual people. I HIGHLY recommend The Notebook and The Guardian. Those two are my favorites although I LOVE them all!

Challenge #1

Q:~What non-celeb scrapbooker inspires you? Why?

A:~ Right now I am gaining so much inspiration from this girlie right here!

http://www.acolorfulhouse.typepad.com/

I don't know her, never talked to her but I was linked to her website on 2PS the other day and I can't get enough! Her name is Adrienne- hope I spelled that right! I just think she is so FREE! Talented to the extreme and I totally LOVE her style! I strive to be like this when I scrapbook, totally FEARLESS and UNAFRAID of messing up. I swear I stress too much sometimes and I think that each page has to be a work of art. It seems to me just goes with what she feels and puts her heart into it and it becomes a work of art without trying to make it that way.
Adrienne, girl Gotta love ya! I am planning on scraplifting her and uploading a page HERE---->

STAY TUNED!

Ok so here goes!

I guess I don't know what to say. I have really wanted to do this blog thing for awhile and I've read and enjoyed hundreds of blogs of so many very interesting people. I just figure who cares what I have to say. So I've decided I DO! I don't care if anyone reads this or not. I am doing this for ME! I want documentation that I am here, I am a real person, a mother, a wife, an artist.

I found a great blogging challenge on 2Ps today and I will begin using these challengest to get me started.. to get me speaking.. to challenge myself creatively. I will post my latest work, my inspiration, my thoughts interesting or not. An online journal of expression.

So here goes!
